John Sunwoo

(M’99) received his B.E. (’03) and M.S. (’05) degrees in electrical engineering from Auburn University, AL and M.Eng. (’11) degree in biomedical engineering from Cornell University, NY. From 2005 to 2010, he worked at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Korea, as a researcher. His research has been in the fields of built-in self-test (BIST) for FPGAs, gesture recognition and fabric area network for wearable computers, and modeling of blood flow in the cortical vasculature.

Current areas of interest include modeling of interneuronal circuitry in the spinal cord to understand how the brain learns to make movements, which in turn can aid improving current prosthetics and implantable computers. He is an active Judoka and claims that he owns most of the Korean BBQ places in Los Angeles.
